Christmas Lights

In November last year we started the burn-in testing for the floorsense and floorsight modules and began testing the over the air firmware update process. The office looked a bit like a christmas tree with modules everywhere with either red (reserved), green (free) or blue (upgrading / network discovery).

We use specialized 20 port USB power supplies to build up our test net of 2-300 nodes all within a small range. We then do selective power off tests to check mesh network auto-healing, along with full power off/on to simulate power failures and then measure the time it takes for the desks to recover and rebuild their network automatically. About 7 minutes is the record, with 98% of desks back with 3 minutes. The important thing is that no intervention is required - its not self healing if someone has to manually power cycle a desk node to make it come back to life!
