floorsense interactive Kiosk

We have been working on a touchscreen kiosk to integrate further features with floorsight and floorsense. floorsense has always had a non-interactive kiosk view that can show end users the occupancy levels across multiple floors (allowing them to go where they know there is space). The standard kiosk runs in any web browser, so clients just need a large screen that can be pointed at a URL to display the real-time occupancy level on a given floor.

Recently however we wanted to take the kiosk to the next level - so we have developed a touchscreen interactive version of the kiosk web interface - it can run on any touchscreen PC that runs Chrome or Edge browser. We sourced our own kiosk for testing purposes and can advise clients of their options on this if they do not already have a touchscreen kiosk PC to use.

The touchscreen kiosk has one of our swipe card readers mounted to it - the reader works over the same low frequency radio network as the floorsense and floorsight sensors and doesnt need to be connected to the kiosk PC.

The interactive kiosk offers 3 functions:

  • Allows users to select between floors to see at a glance real-time occupancy levels

  • Search for other users that have checked into desks, collab spaces, focus pods or meeting rooms - anywhere that a floorsight sensor is fitted. The kiosk shows their users location on the floorplan so the searcher can go directly to them without interrupting them with a text or phone call.

  • Allows user to tap on a free desk or workspace and then badge their building access card to book it then and there. The desk booking still needs to be confirmed by the user by physically going to the desk within a certain time, otherwise the booking will be auto-released

In the future we will add further features to the interactive kiosk such as pre-booking spaces further out than right now. We made a little demo video which is available below.
